From the Spiritual Discourses of Rev Mario Schoenmaker

On a Sunday evening, Reverend Mario would like to sit down with his students in his chapel at The Centre in Caulfield, Melbourne. In that setting, he would speak to them about many matters which are pertinent to the Christian esoteric life. From November 1989 through to September 1990 he gave what is known as the Spiritual Discourses. During these evenings he presented foundational principles of esoteric knowledge to his students, although there is nothing basic about the way Reverend Mario gives this. Each discourse is very pertinent, up-to-date teaching about the spiritual state of the world and the human being of this present time. 

I am here to teach you wisdom; wisdom about the Gods, about the hierarchy, about the brotherhood to which I belong, about the esoteric teachings down the ages, about things belonging to the future, and about our practical application - for spiritual truth, unless it is practical, is not spiritual truth.

In this discourse, Rev Mario reflects on the meaning of the Ascension in the context of Golgotha and Pentecost.
 
In terms of evolutionary development, Atlantis was the peak of our physical and earthly manifestation. By the time of Christ, our physical bodies had declined and the world was physically dying. As a result, human beings were losing their ability to incarnate. The physical body was not capable of receiving a soul. The population decreased. Decline and death are both signs of the etheric departing. The world would have been devoid of human life if not for the intervention of Golgotha. Through the blood that flowed, Jesus gave a new etheric impetus to the world and every member of the human race - renewing our etheric bodies so physical life, and therefore evolution, could continue. Everyone benefits from Golgotha, regardless of what they believe.
 
Why then is the Christian church needed? Why did Jesus tell his disciples to preach the gospel? Here we come to the purpose of Pentecost. The event of Pentecost – promised on Ascension Day - is the injecting of the spirit of Christ into the soul and it is only for those who are conscious of the Christ, who believe in his name.
 
Consciousness attracts “like” consciousness. Christ cannot draw near to those who have no consciousness of him. "All who believe in him shall receive power to become children of God". Not all are children of God yet. Everyone will get the opportunity, but if they reject it, the Book of Revelation calls this the second death.
 
The etheric of Christ is in everyone. The spirit of Christ is only in those who are becoming …
